i have a 1989 Lt1 engine for sale. the only problems r tht it needs a new water pump, valve cover gasket adn unfortunately the left bank cylinder head is cracked :crying . otherwise the engine is perfect it has brand new performance injectors on it and a starter with less than 45 miles on it. its up for grabs for 400 obo

Probably a TPI motor, if so , good luck getting $400 for it with a cracked head, lol My guess would be what ever it was that caused the head to crack did some other stuff too.

If it is a TPI I might be interested in buying the complete intake.

the engine has a lt1 block from a 92 vette and the thermostat might need to be changed otherwise its a good engine i know tht it would need a new headgasket to but i had it checked out by a tech and there isnt a ton of extra problems and by the way the "LT1" started in 1974 if you have really want to by the TPI intake then send another reply on your offer

Where are you located? If it is indeed an lt1 vette block I'm interested.

ACTUALLY it started back in 1970 1/2 with the Z28 and Corvette's with the LT-1, notice the dash. I know, I had a 70 1/2 Z28.

The 89 is most likely a L98. What is it out of? Since you seem like you have no idea what your selling maybe a few pics would help all of us out...

first it's a '89 now it's a '92... What is this thing? Is it even an engine?? I could see it... you get there and he's like "there's the engine" and it's a transmission... :rolf

the block is from a 92 vette it still has the L98 heads and from wht i was told when i bought the car the block from the 92 was just swapped with the L98 and the guy just put the original L98 parts back on it, and when i said it was from an 89 i meant tht it is in my 89 formula firebird, sorry for the confusion but i was just trying to get the point across

Then you should have an LT1 short block block with an 89 L98 heads and TPI intake on it. Still at that I have to think that if the head is cracked like you said there there are other issues.

As for the TPI, if you want to sell it seperatly PM me a price, I belive that is the rule for the classifieds that your suposed to put up a price not wait for an offer. If you really want an offer Im really good with lowball numbers.

L98 heads will NOT bolt up to an gen 2 Lt1 block ,and run. The coolant passages are different. This is not a bolt on. converting a set of gen 1 heads to work on an lt1 block requires welding and surfacing the heads. It can be done, but it's not cheap and I don't think anyone would waste their time and money doing this to a set of L98 heads. I can pretty much guarantee that the engine in you'r car is not an Lt1. You were misinformed.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Me to, who would put a set of L98 heads on a lt1 block, the heads/intake are about the only thing that are improved over the L98.
