For Comparison, it's supposed to look like this:

I got these rims in early November, and probably around mid-December, I noticed the pass. rear looked like it was rotting lol :(
The polished lip is finely pitted, but all over, probably from salt? I'm not sure, but it looks like shìt.
The front pass. one doesn't look bad at all, but it has the same pitting here & there.
The 2 drivers side ones are about 95% new looking yet, but yet minor pitting here & there.
It's just on the lips too, the black spokes are all perfect.

What the hell caused this? If it was salt, why aren't all 4 horrible looking?
I tried a little buffing to see if it was just on the surface, but no go.

Think I could get them replaced free?
They never said not to use them in winter, I didn't want to either, but I had no choice at the time.

Yeah bad idea to rock them in the winter. But on a different note call up the place you got them or the company themselfs and since they prolly wont replace them just see if the lip can get refinished. Im sur ethey have had this problem before and could tell you what to do to fix it. :) By the way are you the guy that made that video of the hailstorm????

There is a company in Ill that can fix that for ya otherwise get some polishing compound and start the buffing. You will need some aggressive compound to cut down the rust and blems then use a finer compound until it shines again. For the inside of my wheels I was able to use a green soft scouring pad then used alot of elbow grease to buff them back out. Now, I just dont drive in the rain or snow if my polished wheels are mounted.

edit: found the link. they are in schaumburg. i had 2 of mikne fixed there before..http://www.fixrim.com/

Pretty decent prices.

What have you used to clean them?

Heh yep :goof

What have you used to clean them?

First thing I tried wase bug & tar remover, thinking I had kicked up some tar from someplace, no go.

Then I tried some Eagle One aluminum polish, no dice.

Then I tried some 3M rubbing compound, equiv. to like 1500grit it said.

I didn't want to rub -too- hard, didn't know if I'd ruin the finish, but I rubbed it enough that it should have made a little difference. Must be deeper than I thought.

The point is though, it shouldn't have happened at all, and I don't have a spare set of rims/tires to throw on while I'm paying to have them fixed for some obvious quality control issues.

Who's to say it won't happen again if I did get it buffed out too? :(

I'm gonna talk to the place I got them from, as well as the manuf. themselves, see what they say first.
