35,000 for sharp edges. There is no real talent put into the construction of the boxes and consol. It might have some kick to it, but it gets an F in my book.

W/ 4 JL AUDIO 12 INCH 12W6 SUBWOOFERS IN THE REAR

Alright, if you look at the top picture those are Rockford Fosgate Punch Subs (I one of them in my Olds Wagon back in '01) If you look at the B&W one it has JL Subs... I wonder which ones it actually has...

Good eye. I bet he sold the JL's and put in the punch subs.

There is not even close to $35K in that piece of crap TA.

It wasn't even technologically advanced when he did this in 1997.

That looks like a crappy ass Pioneer or Sony deck by the design of the remote control and the display on the deck. Not even a Premier deck.

As for the Fosgate amps and subs, there isn't even a $1000 in amps there. They are 200WX1 mono amps and listed for around $150 a piece back then. The Subs are base model punch SVC 12's -- maybe $125 a piece.

On top of that, his 4 optima batteries are past their prime since they were probably purchased a decade ago. Also, why not just get an upgraded alternator built than running 2 alternators. The Rockford Fosgate amps are not that power hungry and maybe have a max draw of 20amps each since they are extremely inefficient amps. Oh well. Not my money.

There is also no reason to be running 6 EQ's since he was most certainly not competing on PRO scale in SPL, SQ and SQ+. Even then, I was competing in SPL and SQ+ with two Image Dynamics dual-31 band eq's with no problem.

Dude is smoking a huge crack rock.

I would give him $3500 for car and system, and that would be extremely polite.

Just remember, when that was put together, Rockford Fosgate was the sh!t... I remember when my dad and I put an upgraded stereo in his 928 in '94... Blaupunkt Tape Player, Rockford 4" Component Set in front, Blaupunkt Speakers in the back and a Sony 75x2(RMS) amp powering the speakers... He was almost in a culture shock when I showed him how everything was setup in my car... Times change drastically...

No, actually rockford was crap back then too. Fosgate was sold at American and Best Buy back then, so the market thought it was great -- it was just overpriced. There were quite a few companies that put out some crazy car audio back then.

Companies doing good in 1997:
*Infinity (beta 12X and 15X DVC subs, perfect 12's, and their digital Beta amps were pretty nice)
*Xtant (1001dx amp was nuts)
*Phase Audio tube amps
*Premier (Lexus version of Pioneer) -- The P1R was a great competition deck)
*Image Dynamics (Compression horn components, subs and EQ's were all top notch)
*PPI flat piston subs
*Phoenix Gold (amps (titanium series ZX600ti and ZX1000ti -- 1/2ohm stable amps.), subs and speakers)
*Alumapro (4,10,40 farad caps, and decent subs)
*JL Audio (decent subs then and now)
*Focal Audio (damn good components)
*Boston Acoustics (components and subs were very good)
*ADS (excellent amps and SVC/DVC subs, and the P-series components that were like $6000 a set!)
*Earthquake Audio (very good amps -- a little on the power hungry side though)
*Sony (Mobile ES series had some good amps (the 5026ES amp was a great bang for the buck amp -- 440 total watts for $200 new, and 1 ohm stable)
*Cerwin Vega (Stroker subs--Freaking loud, inefficient subs that needed 5 cubic feet for a 12" sub in a ported box)

I know I am missing quite a few other good companies out there. I also remember another aluminum sub back then. They also had a titanium sub in 1999. Clarion? Heck, I forgot. Getting too old....

I just miss the days of designing multi-phase enclosures with tunable ports. We designed a 6-phase enclosure out of 3/4" MDF (box - in - box design) using a infinity beta 10X DVC powered by 2 sony mobile ES 5026's in a dodge omni and did 143.5 peak dB @ 53Hz. We played around from 10Hz to 140Hz. The box was able to be expanded and contracted by sliding the inner box in or out to adjust its harmonics, and using a compression horn style port. Not bad for a single 10" sub and some free time.

The best was when we designed/installed the enclosure in my 1988 toyota camry. 6 infinity perfect 12's powered by 3 phoenix gold zx600ti's in a multi-chamber 6ft^3 sealed box with the back seat removed. The car did 156.2dB @58Hz.

Yeah, you're right, I was thinking more mainstream stuff... lol... I didn't know the Premier decks were out that early though...

I got my first premier deck in 1994 at Hi Fi Audio in Appleton, WI.

First setup was Infinity Kappa 4" fronts and 6.5" rears, Sony Mobile ES 5026 amp (speakers), an Earthquake 200X amp (subs), and two 12" Boston Rally's in a Sealed box. 136.5dB. Yay. All to the classic competition CD:
"Bass Mechanik"

Back to 1996....oh well, only a decade ago. :thumbsup

Any idea where I can get a 18" Vega Stroker Sub?? One of my friends had one in his Jeep and it POUNDED... :thumbsup :rolf All I remember is standing outside and watching the liftgate on his Grand Cherokee look as if it was floating... Not even sealing anymore... The rear view mirror fell off, his overhead console fell down... It was just insane... And you could hear it... Far far away...

aaahhh, the days on wasted money of stereo instead of performance mods. earthquake amps were my fave, powering the boston pro subs with the boston pro components up front and the RM6's in the rear of my '93 Z. all givin signal from an eclipse preamp/tuner combo. think it was the 55040 back then.

LOL... Hey now with my '95 Cutlass Cruiser... It needed something, and I don't think they make many performance parts for that thing... :rolf :rolf

they definitely didn't have any performance parts for my 4-cylinder, automatic Camry. If I couldn't go fast, I might as well be heard 2 miles away. :thumbsup
