Gears for 8.8 Ford

For all of you guys who have gotten gears, have any of you guys had luck with the motive gears? the 3.73's im looking at are a lot cheaper with than the FMS gears, but i do not want this being a case of "you get what you pay for". Thanks :thumbsup

we have a 3.90 set in our 9 sec street car so far so good

i had aldo been looking at the 3.90's, as they are a nice intermediary between the 4.10's and 3.73s. i have a typical 5.0 (H/C/I& a wee more compression-10.2:1) dont care about gas milage..roll on street tires. can spin em all right with the turd 3.08's. if traction is an issue. what should i do (3.73-3.90-4.10). do they sell a gear to correct the speedo for a 3.90 gearset? looking for you guy's $.02

Well first off .. If your rolln on a street tire good luck what combo do you have ??

a 390 for me is differnt I use spray and loose converter

but if your running a 390 or 410 i would at leat run a drag raidal or a ET street.. other wise your just going to burn the hides off your street tires

your buring the tires off with a 308 anything higher would be useless on a street tire

373 = drag raidal
390 = drag raidal / et street
410 = et street

all its got is a 306 (forged flattops that give 10.2:1 with my 58cc heads)with performer 5.0, b-303 stick w 1.6:1 rr's, gt-40 aluminum heads w/58cc chambers, shorties w/no cats, 5-speed. needs gears. just got a stiff suspension with a torque arm, from a standing start, gets ok traction, but it needs gears once i get going.

i should invest in DR's though, good idea, gears only MULTIPLY torque, multiplying the problem

for the motor combo i would go happy medium 3.90 gear it would be a solid 12 sec car

besides, I got an offa i couldnt refuse (spoken with a raspy godfather voice) on a set of ford 3.73's.....but i want a set of the motive 3.90s
