Speaking of racing, it is time to get my integra ready to go.

Could you reccomend a set of tires for my car? I want to have both a dry and wet set. I have those azinnis from my daily driver, but are they better suited to auto X?

The first MCSCC event is on April 9th at Autobahn north track. $175 entry fee. Something makes me think that it will not be too full so I might be able to get lots of practice time in.

I don't know if I will make it to that one. i still nead to get a racing suit and repair the rear spindles on my Integra.

Sure
Dry Tires, Use HOOSIER

get Hoosier DOT-R compound A3S05

the BEST dry traction tire there is, PERIOD!!!!!!!!

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Hoosier&tireModel=R3S05

for wet,
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Hoosier&tireModel=Radial+Wet

Hoosier with Tread.

these are the FASTEST tires there are.

nothing is better out there!

Ouch $$$!

Are those tires going to last long or are they soft?

Al

I was reading about those tires and paid close attention to the maximum number of heat cycles before they lose thier grip. The common number is 8 cycles. What I think I will do is use my azines for practice lapping and have a separate set for racing.

I'm going to give Big Bear Tires a call to see what they can do. I might get a set of wheels along with the tires. Usually, stores will gove you a discount. I should also get a better look at the tires on my car; I do not know what condition they are in.

from the Tire company at the track for the weekend, ( frisby tire)
or
from John Berget used race tire sales in delavan, WI
or
from people selling them used privately.

Would I be allowed to bring an integra to such an event? It looks like a musclecar-only event.

The event is open to all makes. We do have quite a few f-bodies, Corvettes and mustangs who sign up but we also get a number of Hondas, Mazdas, mitsubishis Subarus, BMWs and other types of cars that participate.

Go ahead and sign up!

SSMike,
Is your seat time spoken for already? I'd be interested in having you ride along with me for a session on Sunday probably. Anyone who can turn out the lap times you do with a stock car (minus tires) must know something I don't, haha.

Mike,
We'll have to meet up then... I'd like you to do a ride along with me sometime on Saturday. I'm running in group B but will be taking it very easy this time around because the car will be finished only a few days prior to the RA event with a completely different setup from last year so I'm not about to push it since I need to learn the car all over again. Still, be cool to have you along for a session or two.

sure
it never pays to push it to the limit
untill you have many laps in.

go to fast to soon = Crash

:)

mainly, Braking.

start braking early,
and SLOWLY, decrease braking zone.

is the key to a Safe and fun weekend.

accelerate out of corners slowly too,
until you know your car and how much it can spin the tires
accelerating out of a turn.

Get braking done early, Accelerate THROUGH the corner.

SSmike1

But, not the fast way.

I don't think my integra will spin a tire outside of 1st gear.

One other thing: check your brakes! I ended up fading my stock ones on my integra at BFR after only 2 1/2 laps.

No need to worry about brakes this time around. Gigantic StopTech brake package ready to go with Panther XP8 track pads. Seriously, freakin' huge.

No need to worry about traction coming out of corners either. AWD. Floor it and hold on. It's fun :)

I plan on taking it easy though considering this will be the first track time with the all-new setup. Plus, my 275 Proxies RA1s are brand new as well, and not shaved so... bah. Couldn't get anyone to shave them. Bastards.

Mike,
My car just finished in time... time about cutting it close. It's on it's way back from Ohio right now.

Look for me saturday in the maroon colored Stealth. Would be great if you could come along for a ride early sunday or late saturday.

Only catch is, the car won't be pushed at all. It's a fresh new setup that I'm not willing to risk at all yet. I'm planning on 10-15 minute sessions instead of 20 so I can be cautious, check logs, verify everything is working as expected etc. Last thing I need to do is be overzealouos and break something less than 48 hours after getting it back.

One thing I recently found out is to steer into the turn at the same rate you let off the brakes. Getting on the gas is easier because you don't have to let off the wheel fully when you roll onto the gas.
