I remember seeing an auto newspaper in Germany where the front page had a picture of a bolt, and it went into an ungodly amount of detail about it on the front page.

It seems that the Germans are the only ones who care (worry) enough to analize something to that extent. Every once in a while, an engineer I know will tell me to "stop being so german." If it was a question about a bolt (which really happened), he'd just go on and say "if strength matters, buy a grade 8 bolt and never worry about it again."
