A C|Net article exploring U.S. workers' productivity. People say they actually accomplish less now than they did a decade ago. Research blames technology as the culprit. From the article: "Technology has sped everything up and, by speeding everything up, it's slowed everything down, paradoxically ... We never concentrate on one task anymore. You take a little chip out of it, and then you're on to the next thing ... It's harder to feel like you're accomplishing something.'"

yeah, people here don't get anything done because they're always too busy sending me emails and calling me asking how to use all the technology around them. Sometimes I really wish I could choke people through the phone line like the cartoons.

People do not do anything anymore...the robots and computers are the ones doing the work! You now have 1 person watching a robot and waiting for it to brake. Then that person has a job to do. Once running again, the maintanence guy gets to sit back and sip java. Just remember that the robot does what 10 people used to do.

30 or 40 years ago, companies had entire groups of people crunching numbers all day. Then came the calculator, then excell...

Also think of tools. The electric drill replaced the hand drill. Line it up and pull the trigger; fewer calories burned, less work done; the job is accomplished faster. You do less to accomplish more.
