need help asap! computer gurus!!

well i just got road runner and it wont work due to my shitty ass laptop. well since theres not an ethernet connection on it i had to use my usb port which i got an ethernet adaptor for it. well my computer wouldnt recognize it at all! i believe the usb port is junk. and fyi theres only one usb port on this computer :confused so i need some help! possibly to fix it? let me know

Did you check in the BIOS to see if USB is enabled?
It's usually F1 or F2 or DEL when it's first booting up.

go buy a PCMCIA ethenet adapter and be done with it if the USB is toast.

(cheaper yet)
Or buy a USB 2.0 PCMCIA adapter card and hook your USB ethernet adapter to that. solve 2 problems with one card.

andy whats the price difference?? and what am i expecting to pay? i just basically need to get road runner set up on this computer because then i will be using wireless.

jeff are we talking about the setup screen when windows first starts? i went onto there and didnt see any options on enabling the usb port??

jeff ok i'm officially computer illiterate! lol i found the bios screen and the usb was disabled! why i dont know! but i think i'm good to go. thanks for all your help!
