First and foremost, I dunno what the hell I am doing with the motor stuff. I started tearing it apart to see what I could find :thumbsup

Here's the 2nd batch of parts to go to my guy Ryan of SK, the Powder Coater

http://www.glowersdistrict.com/gallery/files/1/9/batch2.jpg

I tore down the block to the crank shaft, pistons still in der.

Camshaft has goudges and chips out of it

Cut out more rust

I dunno what to do with the exhaust manifolds yet, might media blast and highheat powercoat. What I would LIKE to do is have Steve make me a set of headers, but I dont think that is in my budget this year.

And here is my mess of parts from the engine

http://www.glowersdistrict.com/gallery/files/1/9/workbenchfull2.jpg

Finally got the blower box out too to reveal more surface rust

And here's whats left in the block

Nice pics Porky! So what kind of motor build are you going to do since you can just toss that stuff back in? I would blast the manifold then coat it. I think U Spray it will also powdercoat otherwise I would try Latenightcustoms on the board here.

I have a powder coater already, getting almost 50 parts done for a case of beer.

I am getting a bigger cam, better lifters, prolly will bore .30 over, and new pistons. Then just basic rebuild kit I think, not sure yet. This is just guessing, since I dont know what I'm doing. Have any suggestions?

This case is closed,I am sorry I ever came on this piece of crap site, this is one of the worst sites I ever seen, besides I have way to much other buisness to deal with than to argue over the internet with a- holes like yourself..

This crap site is a funded out my pocket and an occasional donation by the members. It's not a public billboard. Trust me I know how much a yellow pages ad costs, as I prolly spend $2000 a year on them for my business. Here you get a targeted audience and you don't even ask the people that make this site possible to promote your business on my crappy website.

You gonna use the good VHS head cleaner and rotate the tube before reinstalling that 13" combo unit or are you just going to go HD?

Pork,
Regarding the exhaust manifolds. If you take them to just about any speed shop they should be able to extract the broken studs.

You asked....Start looking for a 500 cube motor out of a early 70's Caddie.....Theres a place that specializes Caddies, I've seen them advertising in Hot Rod, Car Craft, Ect.......They might even have the headers your looking for....

Looking good Pork....Dam you have a lot of work to do..... :D

Me too, that's definitely alot of crap to be doing.

The Caddy place is local if I remember right. We were looking at stuf for Farm Truck regarding conversions and polished parts for the engine compartment.

Like I said in the other post, Clint is a big Caddy guy and has a lot of information. and he might be able to find you a good 500 cid engine. I know he's had a number of them between him and Farm Truck.

Believe it or not, every bolt came RIGHT out. One was stripped and even that one came out!

Lets keep this other crap out of my thread please.

And as far as the 500 goes, I cant afford a 500 let alone a trans to go with it

Is it that they won't bolt up? Farm Truck's stock TH400 lasted FOREVER even with the 340 shot, and that's a heavy truck too, hahaha.

My thinking is find a good running 500, get it in and moving, finish the rest of the car then do a good motor in a year or 2. You can spend $2-3k on a budget rebuild before you know it. How hard are they to find now a days?...

Pork, from what I remember you can cut the mounting flanges off big chevy headers and put caddy flanges on them, port spacing is real close. That may make it cheaper

theavenger333
02-14-2006, 10:58 PM
nice work. maybe just simple on the headers, have them coated and cleaned up, maybe a light porting?
