Thankfully I locked in my gas price back in October. I pay a maximum of $93 a month regardless of usage, with no settling up at the end of the year like a typical budget plan. So I can keep the house as toasty as I like.

Bad part will be in July when I'm still paying $93 a month for gas, and then a ton for electric. I'll see if it was worth it, but seeing what some people are paying for gas now, it's worth the gamble.

Hrmm for the 2500 sqft Tri-Level house I'm renting 186 for Electric and 62 for Gas... Interesting... I have Gas heat and water... Hrmmm must be the space heaters that are killing the electric bill... lol... But I don't want to heat the whole house above 60-65 degrees...

Mine's been about $300 (1350 sq ft)combined this winter. I suppose I could update the windows to something that actually seals out the air.....

Attic insulation is the big thing most people miss, all that heat just flyin out the roof. Check all the ducts/chimney/etc. for leaks around them as well, I found a couple sizeable leaks last year :stare

D@mn my girlfriend has this sh*tty old house on the east side and it is ALWAYS cold in there. You can physically feel the cold air blowing in the house! She said her combined electric/gas bill was $530 the last two months.

I tried sealing her windows but the d@mn cats won't stop clawing up the plastic! Those things piss me off! We picked her up some space heaters now and just turned the heat down.

My combined bill for this billing period is $108.68 :thumbsup

I'm heating 1600 sq.ft., and my furnace, water-heater, and dryer are gas, all other appliances are electric.

I went and bought a trick Honeywell thermostat that allows me to adjust the temperature for 4 time periods per day, and to set weekends independently from weekdays. When no one is home, my thermostat is set for 62°. Sleep time is set for 65°, and after work when someone is home, 68°. It's a little cold at times, but after seeing what some of you are paying  , I'll deal with it.

My old Man's was $460 for heat with the house kept at 58deg 75% of the time and about 66deg during his hours at home. Occasionally, he would let the house get alot colder. He has a honnywell automatic thermostat. The house is 6,000 sq ft.

I don't know what the electric bill is, but he never has any lights on. He can be at home, and you would not even know it till you look through the house and find him. I'd say three bulbs on at a time max.

My brother and his friends used to run around the house turning all of the lights on because they knew he would get all wound up from it!

Try those fluorecent bulbs to replace regular incandecents. They look like normal bulbs and start up instantly. A pack of 6 goes for 10$ and they are onlt 16 watts and give off the same ammount as the 75-90 watt bulbs.
