I have the magnaflow cat on my Z. Runs really great with it. If you want to spend the cash...or just cut it off. Also Magnaflow or Flowmaster muffler will work great with that setup. Also Wisconsin Muffler in New Berlin down the road from Holz. They do great work there. They would cut you a deal.

I would not recommend putting 3inch on the blazer...2 1/2inch piping should be big enough. Also remove the pre-cat or resonator if you call it that after the headers. It will make the truck run smoother. And have more of a growl depending on what muffler you have put on. Plus remember how much clearance you might have.

3" would be worthless anyway, you'd definatly be losing power, and it would sound turrible.

HOLY **** $650...way to much. I had bought my flowmaster muffler on the net. http://completeexhaust.com. Then i bought the magnaflow cat at the shop. Wisconsin muffler. I got a deal on the cat. With everything installed and new 2.5inch piping $210.

Another place you could go is Velasquez & Sons Mufflers and brakes for less.
709-711 S. Cesar E. Chavez DR. Milwaukee 53204 phone# 414-383-3100...414-383-1267

You will not pass emission's with the cat off. You could save money now and just run a straight pipe were the cat is. Then when ever your emission test comes around go buy a new cat.

Just to chime in. Intrested in headers and y pipe for it? I have some from a 97 s-10 i think they are the same for the blazers. It was a 4.3 2wd truck.

Anakonda69
01-21-2006, 04:57 PM

Anakonda69
01-21-2006, 04:58 PM
yeah my friend got a flowmaster 40 setup with stock pipe though on his 4 door and it was like $250...so $650 was way to high for me

if 2 of your 3 02 sensors are bad you wouldn't pass emissions anyway.. u could cut out the cat and get an 02 simulator....... just remember, you get what you pay for

DO you have a sound clip by chance of your truck? And well does it work with your setup? Are they better than flowmaster?

Not at anymore, my old hosting site went down and it was lost. I can say cam, headers, SLP ypipe, no ***, 3"tubing, race muffler = AWSOME SOUND!

So...hacking off the pre-cat has no bad effects...right? I left mine on because I got mixed opinions on other forums. I always wanted to cut that stupid ass thing off.

I have a dumped magnaflow BTW.

I would cut it off. It will make the truck run smoother and better gas mileage. I never had a probelm with cutting it off. Never had a code...check engine light. Oh with a dumped magnaflow that will sound really nice if you cut it. But then I would recommend to add the tail pipe out. It will would a little annoying driving around and having the sound of your exhaust loud all the time in the cab.

I think it's only certain years the s-series had pre-cats. I believe GM started adding them in 98.

Ya I think your right because everyone said I would need a spacer when I installed the SLP ypipe because I would be elimanting the precat. But the ypipe bolted right in.
