Hey, if you are going to pull the engine to do the gaskets/seals/etc, why not do a basic basic rebuild too? It's really not that hard to do a basic ring and bearing kit on top of what you already plan. Simple honing, new rings, new bearings, and a good three-angle valve job...and since the engine is out, a moderately larger cam and upgraded ignition would make that engine not only purr...but it'd have suprising pick-up with NO sacrifice in drivability. I'm sure there's a couple of guys that'd help with that.
Well, I wanted to cam the **** out of it just for the gurgle :-P But I honestly know NOTHING about whats " under the hood "
ANY and ALL suggestions as for that are welcome. I just know I want to make it stop leaking, and have the trans looked at ( I pulled that myself and replaced the front seal, all myself. That was a learning expierence in itself. Best part about it, after 2 months it started leaking again so I think I put the seal in backwards haha ).
Anyone else on the site could offer product suggestions or assistance, it would be greatly appreciated

Yesh...I'm not sure what's out there for the older 390. A mostly new 390 came out in 1963 with a substantially updated design, but I don't know what, if any parts interchange b/w the 62 390 and the 63 390. The 63 and up caddy engines have a growing aftermarket for it, with pretty much everything you'd want and need for ANY level of performance.
Where's "SloFarmtruck" when you need him? He might know what the interchangeability is, if any.
