Supposedly for the new Fast and the Furious 3 movie to take place in Japan, here is a Nissan Skyline RB engine in a early Ford Mustang.

I'm one for hybrid cars, so it's a pretty neat swap in my book :thumbsup

Ya, everyone knows Ford motors cannot make any real power.

Why do they need to destroy a 68 fastback for that gay movie?

I seriously don't get it though, why not just put a REAL gt500 in the movie? That mustang with that exhaust looks incredibly weak, I'm not liking the nissan powered stang at all.... I think it's a bad attempt to capture old school fans who will say "yay the mustang won" and then the ricers will say "yeah, but it's powered by nissan"... that idea is as lame as paul walker

I remember hearing they needed a motor for the car in Japan, and they used what they had.

Retarded.

Great Engine........Lousy car and movie.

That stang is going to see alot of power with the size of that Turbo on that RB26.

Definatly a clean looking swap(no bundle of wires under the hood!) but the can on the back needs to go! otherwise i think it is very different!

actually, for the poster that said that he remembered them using that motor because it was there... that was for a late 70's mustang that was red. That one had a 2JZ (supra) motor in it as well... that guy actually responded on some board somewhere and said the reason for the swap was just like the poster said -- lack of american muscle parts.

Sweet hybrid though... I agree with no having that pipe on the back of the mustang. Ick. :durr

We need to get all of the other US car forums to try and get hollywood to make an american muscle car movie...with lots of real wheelstands.

lol, I just thought of this. Some people get pissed when you take something original off a car, and put on an aftermarket piece such as an intake manifold.

Ummm I finally got to look at the pictures of this poor car since web blocker blocks too much **** at work... And that looks horrible... LOSE THE CAN! That's what I say... Poor Mustang, I agree that ruined that car... Someone please swap a 289, 302 or such back into it... Even cooler a 460 :-)

Rb26 > 289, 302, 460

Never said it was a bad motor or anything like that... Just that I'd rather see one of those three in that car... It's one of those things that I think it'd be more in it's place than a Nissan motor in to a classic Mustang...

Rb26 > 289, 302, 460

I think that we should do the opposite by taking a jap car and putting a US motor in it. Hmmmm...I do recall a rx7 with an LS1 in it.

I like unusual swaps also but that fart can ruins it! The RB-series motor is amazing so this is a cool idea.

Unusual swaps are cool... I guess it is the fart can... I've seen RX7s with American V8s in 'em, as well as Jaguars (XJS) and the Porsche 928 (why they'd ruin that car I'll never know)...

I my eyes you took a huge step forward. With this mustang they took a huge step back!

How about a na 408ci Windsor that makes 600 hp, and if that isn't enough throw on a large blower or turbo' and make as much hp as you could ever want or need.

That whole thing that they couldn't get parts is BS. I am sure within a week they could get anything they wanted.

Nothing against that motor but throw it in a early 70's Nissan!
