Ok....

Here's the deal:

Because, this has never been done before we have to take baby steps getting this thing going.

SOOOOOOO...

We are going to *START* with radar runs (this keeps the insurance payment low)

*IF* we get a large enough turnout on saturday....WE *WILL* switch to drag racing for the following weekend.

In the world of insurance...DRAG RACING Sleds = $1500 per day... RADAR Runs =$500

Thats just for the insurance, we still have to pay for staffing and other expenses.

Place:

Great Lakes Dragaway. Union Grove WI. 847-436-0333

Times:

Gates open at 10 am and we race until sunset. (Possibly later if we get a KILLER turnout...racing under the lights would be a HOOT too!)

COST:

Racing $25
Spectating $10

*ALL* snowmobiles are welcome.

Tech:

You need a tethered/kill switch (like wave runners have)
A helmet
Lower leg protection
and a flack jacket

IF you dont have this stuff...ask around because I'm not sure where to get it. But, if I can find out..I'll post it here.

PLEASE POST THIS EVERYWHERE YOU CAN!!! I *NEED* people to show up....if this turns out to be a flop...it will go away very quickly and that will suck.

RSD-ing snowmobiles will be a GREAT way to pass the time until spring. Please help ...post this on every snomobile site you can.

If you plan to attend:

please email me at Tuffenuff@Realstreetdrags.net

sorry, I sold my sled a few years ago because we don't get much snow anymore. But I think you will get a lot of people to show up if you get the word out. I posted this on fullsizechevy for ya, good luck

With all of the snow lately, I think this winter will have a boom in sled sales. I bet if you able to get another date later in the season the turnout will be good.

The extra safety equipement makes this a little more difficult to commit to.

They have radar runs on lakes all the time that only require your helmet.

I'm not even sure what you mean by "lower leg protection". Is that like motorcross stuff?

Good point.
I'm not sure what lower leg protection means, or even what a flack jacket is :confused but I don't have either of those.
I hope this thing flies TuffEnuff, a lot of sledders head up north on the weekends. I just got invited to go up to the UP on the 10th.

What's with the extra gear? I will go if I can find that kind of gear, but flak jackets aren't cheap and wtf is meant by leg protection, should I get my knee pads? LOL!
I have done Radar runs before and all they require is helmet, and sometimes a kill switch teather.

I also think it would be a good idea to hold one of these later in the season to give people a chance to gather up the extra saftey gear.

How have you advertised the event?

juicedimpss

it has been on the internet,as well as word of mouth. It has worked for the RSD events, should work for the sledders as well.

I'll put it to you like this guys...

JUST SHOW UP. we'll get the details worked out when you get there.

This is going to be a lot of fun guys...but, I need some MAJOR support right off the bat or the owners might lose interest

This saturday 10 am <- BE THERE!

My family used to have a 95' 800 Storm, with a mean 1000cc kit on it w/13:1 compression, coated stinger pipes, A $2k suspension by "Fast Inc" (i think) and some crazy carbs I forgot the name of.

It was my mom's fience's (Jeff). He died with my mom in the accident this summer. Jeff's family has it now. It was an ongoing project until late last winter and we never really got much ride time. :(

It was the only sled that we bothered putting a teather strap on.

Jeff taught me alot about sleds. He used to race them down at Union Grove way back in the 70's with Bill from G&G Motorsports

This is the best pic I can find of the pipes... arent they purty

I see GLD updated thier website. Price $10 for spectators, what about kids?

I normally don't have to pay for my kids if they aren't racing JD's that day

I cant go to the track without my kids, they'd kill me :chair:
